SEVENTEEN

SEVENTEEN is a legendary, powerhouse South Korean boy band that debuted under Pledis Entertainment on

26th May 2015. Known globally as the "Performance Kings" and "Self-Producing Idols," they are one

of the most successful acts in K-pop history.

Originally, the group was formed with seventeen members, however, four left prior to debut.

The name now holds the meaning of the combination of thirteen members, three sub-unit teams, and one team.

The members also debuted at the average age of seventeen.

Unlike most K-pop groups, SEVENTEEN creates their own music from scratch. Woozi is an incredibly

accomplished mastermind producer who has composed and written almost the entirety of the group's

discography. Meanwhile, Hoshi and the performance unit heavily direct and choreograph their notoriously

complex, highly synchronized stage routines.

Because South Korea has mandatory military service, SEVENTEEN is currently experiencing a

"temporary chapter apart" while members take turns serving their duty. They are actively leaning into

smaller sub-units and solo work while the lineup shifts, but have promised fans they will return to the

stageas all 13 members by 2029.
